UNIVER.SYS
"No longer that we are confined by recursive histories."

UNIVER.SYS is both the name of the original universe project and its world/setting, created by Rizzonen (formerly SpacePuffer/Pufferworks), first uploaded on OS-tans.moe in April 4, 2023, before being moved to Moeverse a year later. The UNIVER.SYS Wiki was made as the next step of the universe's documentation.

UNIVER.SYS was inspired by the gijinka/personification phenomenon, particularly technology-based ones, which is reflected by its characters. Other inspirations include 1980s anime and sci-fi media.

The project is currently in irregular development, many things are subject to change and may not resemble the final version.

Setting

UNIVER.SYS is a constructed universe inspired by video games and computing, where there lived the Techne, distant descendants of humanity. It is divided into distinct regions called Ensembles—territories of Techne that function like city-states, which parodied real-world tech companies, but reimagined with creative liberties.

The tone of UNIVER.SYS is mostly lighthearted and comedic, sometimes with moments of seriousness or drama that highlight key characters and time periods. The setting focused on humor and character dynamics rather than adhering to strict technical accuracy or striving for a 1:1 recreation of computing history.

Timekeeping

The Techne society in UNIVER.SYS use the Post-Integer Tempo system for timekeeping, which in itself was derived from their predecessors' solar calendar system. Years are called cycles, and days are referred to as subcycles.
