- Amy represents MS-DOS, Microsoft's most popular operating system in the 1980s and early 1990s, and the basis for 16-bit and 9x Windows line.
- Amy's color palette was derived from the Color Graphics Adapter (CGA)'s color palette.[1]
- Amy's hair accessories represent the > and / symbol in DOS commands. Her necklace also features the colors in MS-DOS' logo.
- Her interest in video games and software programming was inspired by MS-DOS' popularity for computer games and programming for its time, even surpassing Commodore 64 in the late 1980s.
- Amy being a close friend of Ian and how she used to train under the same academy as him referenced MS-DOS and IBM PC/PC-DOS' close development and influence from 86-DOS, which in turn inspired by CP/M.
Misc.
- Amy's full first name Amita mean "infinite" or "boundless".[2]
- Aside from programming, Amy also designed and managed Myriad Starters' forum, which referenced MS-DOS' use for bulletin board systems (BBS)[3]
- Amy's appearance and personality was a double edged sword. While it made her friendly and reliable, her intelligence and skills were sometimes overshadowed by her "cuteness."
