- Xenix is also considered a separate Unix distribution, neither belonging to System V or BSD branch of Unix.^[2]

Nix is a close friend of Lisa, which was derived from a Xenix port for the Apple Lisa.

Nix's full first name Nikoleta means "victory" or "winner of the people" in Greek.^[3]
- Her nickname is derived from Xenix itself, and Bellevue, the city where Microsoft's headquarters used to be in early to mid 1980s.
- Depending on the language, Nix can also mean "night", "snow", or "nothingness".
Nix's occupation as an idol and content creator is a reference to Xenix being a popular Unix distribution in the 1980s, which also include uses in SDF Public Access Unix System^[4]
- SDF is a reference to Super Dimension Fortress Macross series. One of its characters, Lynn Minmay, is the first widely known anime idol singer.
