Sinikka Koskela/Meta

From UNIVER.SYS Wiki

Technical

  • Sinikka represents the Nokia Senator (or Mobira Senator), a car phone by Nokia first released in 1982, considered the first "mobile phone".
  • Her hefty, old-fashioned clothing was based on the Senator's utilitarian, radio-like design and weight compared to its successors.[1]
  • Her occupation as both businessperson and antiquarian were inspired by the Senator's intended demographic (businesspeople), and its status nowadays as a rare collectors' item or museum displays.[2]

Misc.

  • Her first name means "blue" in Finnish, originated from root word sini (blue).[3]
    • Her last name Koskela was derived from Salora Oy's co-founder Lauri Koskinen.[4]
  • Sinikka's coat has motifs reminiscent of hands, which alluded to Nokia's famous hand logo. While anachronistic for a character based on a very old phone, Nokia in general is synonymous with this imagery.[5]
    • The emblem on her scarf and belt were clasped-hand motifs associated with runonlaulajat (runesingers in Finnish and Karelian traditions), which were instrumental in preserving oral traditions, communication, and language.[6] [7]
